Eco-friendly in practice: what a buyer should ask for
When a packaging buyer asks for eco-friendly, the useful question is not what the material is called but what happens to the part in each of three places: where the fiber came from, what was added to it, and where it ends up.
- Where it came from. Straw pulp, bagasse and recovered paper are residue streams. Where a pack is made from recovered paper, the loop closes again when the tray is recycled.
- What was added. Water-based forming with no resin binder, no laminate and no film. Anything that would have to be separated before recycling takes the part out of the paper stream.
- Where it ends up. After use the tray can go back into the paper stream as raw material, and fiber that has been through several cycles can still be re-pulped - unlike a coated or laminated substitute.
For a brand, the practical effect is a pack that a customer can put in the paper bin without instructions, and a specification that survives an audit because nothing in it needs a footnote.

A: Lead time is generally 15-25 days after sample approval, depending on order quantity and technical difficulty. The exact schedule is confirmed together with your order.
Q: Is molded fiber packaging safe for direct food contact?
A: Yes. Our food-grade molded fiber trays are produced from virgin plant fiber and comply with food-contact requirements. Please tell us your destination market when requesting a quotation, and we will confirm the applicable compliance documents (for example FDA or EU 1935/2004).
Q: Are your molded fiber food trays PFAS-free?
A: Yes. We offer PFAS-free, plastic-free molded fiber trays with water and oil resistance achieved through fiber selection and forming process, rather than fluorochemical coatings.
Q: Can you produce trays in custom shapes and compartment layouts?
A: Yes. We custom-mold trays to your product dimensions and required compartment layout, based on your 3D drawing or physical sample. Samples are provided for approval before mass production.
