one of the leading global providers of printing inks and coatings for packaging applications and labels, has launched a new UV offset ink series for the EMEA market. The ink series, called SICURA Litho Pack, is specifically designed for non-food packaging applications made of paper, board, and plastic substrates.
The new product range adheres to the Siegwerk Exclusion Policy guidelines, formulated without CMR Cat. 1 substances like Benzophenone. Additionally, the series is free of TMPTA (Carc. 2, not intentionally added) and PFAS/PTFE. Anonymous person, the EMEA Customer Service & Product Manager Business Unit Sheetfed at the company, explains, "With the launch of our new SICURA Litho Pack series, we now offer customers in the EMEA region the next generation of UV offset inks and varnishes especially formulated for the use on cardboard and various synthetic substrates." The ink series exhibits excellent adhesion properties and can be used on a wide range of materials, including coated and metallized paper, board, aluminum, and plastics. It is particularly well-suited for the luxury industry, where complex substrates are common. Furthermore, SICURA Litho Pack offers excellent deinkability, contributing to easier recycling of UV-printed packaging.
Users of SICURA Litho Pack have reported excellent press run stability, high color strength, good flowability, and high ink transfer. The ink series maintains a stable ink/water balance even during long runs and demonstrates good film flexibility for post-processing. It requires low damp settings and delivers sharp print quality. The product range includes standard process colors according to ISO, as well as a wide color set for mixing systems. Additionally, the prints can be overprinted with UV varnishes or laminated using the company's new range of TMPTA-free flexo and offset OPVs.
The development of SICURA Litho Pack aligns with the increasing safety concerns of brand owners, who are strictly excluding certain substances and raw materials in their products and packaging. Siegwerk's new UV solution addresses these guidelines and is formulated using state-of-the-art technology. The company plans to replace its previous UV offset series, SICURA Plast SP, with the new series by the end of 2023, ensuring a smooth transition for customers without the need for reformulation. The company's technical experts are available to support the necessary process setups and calibrations for a successful changeover.
As a global leader in product safety, the company prioritizes formulating products based on the latest EuPIA exclusion policy guidelines. Their experts continuously work to enhance formulations in terms of safety, health, and environmental protection, including the substitution of newly reclassified CMR substances (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, and Reprotoxic).
