Bagasse pulp: one material, from tray to transit box

Sugarcane bagasse is the fibrous pulp left after the sugar mill has taken the juice. As a packaging feedstock it has two practical advantages over recycled paper: a long, strong fiber that presses into a rigid wall, and a naturally light colour that needs no bleaching to look clean on a retail shelf.

This line is moulded from bagasse fiber, which also makes the tray a good fit where the pack touches food or cosmetics directly. What we build with it:

• Food-contact trays and containers - produce punnets, meal trays, bakery bases and lids, pressed smooth enough for direct food presentation.
• Retail inserts and clamshells where a bright, unbleached white surface stands in for a printed paper wrap.
• Protective transit inserts - bagasse can be blended with a stiffer recycled kraft to raise crush resistance for heavier items.

Because the fiber is pressed, not cut, the same tool can carry a divider wall, a drainage pattern, a vent slot or a stacking shoulder. Design changes are tool changes, and the tray's end of life is the paper stream or a commercial compost facility rather than a landfill.
