Apple trays built for the cold chain

An apple tray earns its keep in the cold chain, not on the packing bench. Fruit packed at harvest may travel for weeks, sit in a cold store, get restacked twice and only then reach a retailer - and every apple that bruises in that journey is a write-off. HESHENG (CSL) molds pulp apple trays around the way apples actually get handled: layered, stacked and ventilated.

What we build into an apple tray:

• Individual cup geometry - each apple sits in its own molded seat with a defined contact ring, so neighbouring fruit never touch.
• Stacking lugs - interlocking feet and rims that let loaded trays stack without the weight transferring onto the fruit below.
• Ventilation - molded slots sized to your cooling and controlled-atmosphere requirement, so cold air moves through a pallet rather than around it.
• Moisture performance - molded pulp absorbs and releases humidity, buffering condensation that would otherwise sit on the fruit skin.
• Cup sizing - counts and cup diameters set for your cultivar and grading, from small count trays to single-layer export lines.

Pulp trays for harvest and export are molded from recycled paper fiber or virgin bagasse, are PFAS-free and suited to direct food contact, and stack with the dimensional consistency that automated palletizing needs. Tooling a new cup layout takes 7–15 days from an approved sample design; production runs 15–25 days after sample approval at a minimum of 10,000 pieces per design.
