What moulded paper pulp packaging is made of
"Moulded paper pulp" is the British-English spelling of the same material we mold every day - water, cellulose fiber and a screened tool, pressed into a rigid three-dimensional shape. Buyers who search this spelling are usually working to a UK, EU or Commonwealth specification sheet, so this page covers the material and the documentation side of the question rather than repeating our general product list.
What we can confirm about the material we mold:
- Feedstock - recycled paper and corrugated offcuts, or virgin bagasse (sugarcane fiber) where food contact or a consistent off-white tone is required.
- Process - wet forming with either thermoformed (wet-press) finishing for a smooth two-sided wall, or transfer-moulded (dry-press) finishing for deeper draw and thicker walls.
- Wall thickness - from around 1 mm thin-wall inserts up to 3 mm pressed trays, chosen by stacking load.
- End of life - paper-stream recyclable and home compostable, with no plastic lamination.
Where moulded paper pulp packaging is usually specified in Europe and the UK: box inserts that replace a foam fitment, food-service trays and clamshells, egg and produce trays, and protective corner or base blocks for heavier goods.
We run two production bases, in Dongguan, China and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, with a combined 26,000 m² of manufacturing area, which lets us split volume across two origins when a buyer needs supply diversification. MOQ 10,000 pieces per design; 15–25 days production after sample approval. Have a specification sheet to check against? Send it to our engineering team and we will confirm which process fits.
