Packaging is so woven into modern life that we rarly notice it, yet few products reach consumers without it. Among packaging materials, paper trays play an especially important role because they protect goods while remaining fully recyclable. Their use spans electronics, appliances, computers, mechanical parts, instruments, glassware, ceramics, toys, medicine and food.

The protective qualities of paper trays explain their popularity. They absorb shocks during transport, resist moisture, prevent static buildup and protect against corrosion. These properties make them ideal for fragile and sensitive products that would otherwise be damaged in shipping. At the same time, paper trays are made from recycled paper, so they create no lasting pollution and can be reused through the recycling chain.

The economic significance of paper tray packaging is easy to underestimate. The global packaging industry is enormous, with annual sales exceeding 500 billion euros in recent years, and paper packaging accounts for a substantial share. Asia is the largest regional market with about 45 percent of global sales, followed by Europe at 27 percent and North America at 13 percent. The rapid growth of China and India has been a major driver of packaging demand in Asia.

Looking at end-use markets, the food industry is the largest consumer of paper tray packaging, representing roughly 45 percent of the global packaging market, while the beverage industry accounts for about 26 percent. These figures show how deeply packaging is connected to the global economy.

For China, the outlook is particularly strong. The country has the world's largest market and consumer base, and its packaging industry is growing rapidly. As Chinese manufacturers continue to expand internationally, paper tray packaging will remain an essential part of the supply chain, supporting both domestic consumption and global trade.
