Mondi is investing in a new extruder at its Czech Republic-based Mondi Coating Štĕtí facility to increase production capacity. The new extruder will house state-of-the-art machinery, such as an extrusion coater and a slitting machine, and production is set to begin in 2024. Furthermore, Mondi Jülich in Germany is undergoing an investment program to rebuild an existing coater, including the construction of a new coating kitchen, with two new dispersion coating stations improving barrier properties. Mondi is also optimizing its production facility in Sweden to enhance production of the FunctionalBarrier Paper range.
Mondi's FunctionalBarrier Paper range provides an alternative to plastic films and laminates, offering fiber-based packaging that can be recycled in existing paper waste streams across Europe. The range is tailor-made for various applications, including fast-moving consumer goods, industrial and eCommerce applications, personal care, frozen food, and chocolate packaging.
