Clamshells that close the same way on part 10,000

A fiber clamshell looks simple: two shells, one hinge, one closure. In production it is the hinge that decides whether the pack opens cleanly on the line and stays shut on the shelf, so we treat hinge and latch geometry as engineering rather than decoration.

What we control in a custom clamshell:

• Hinge web - the pressed bridge between the two halves is moulded to a thickness that survives repeated opening without cracking at the fold line.
• Snap-fit closure - interlocking male/female tabs or a press-stud detail, tuned so the closing force stays consistent across a run of tens of thousands, not just on the first sample.
• Interlocking structure - an internal ledge that registers the product and doubles as a stacking stop when loaded clamshells are cased.
• Surface finish - wet-pressed walls are smooth enough to carry a printed or hot-stamped brand mark directly, with no paper wrap.

Because the shape is moulded rather than die-cut and folded, a clamshell can take internal ribs, product windows and divider walls in a single part. That is usually the point where a two-piece carton plus plastic shell becomes one fiber component.
